Someone I fell in love with passed away unexpectedly in April 2017. This is a poem I wrote in August of the same year. Familiar places. Unfamiliar faces. We were here before. Now just me, you no more. We traveled states. Cross country dates. Now that you’re gone, It’s not the same alone. You’d be proud. You’d shout aloud, “Good on you!” With a smile like you do. As I look out over the sea, I feel you, here with me.
